IDC worked with Little Heath School, Reading to prepare a phased redevelopment of their existing site to form part of a bid for Building Schools for the Future funding.

The £25 million 3 phase scheme embraced the idea of ‘learning zones’ with external circulation between them as proposed in the DfES’s Exemplar Schools Initiative.

Challenges on the sdesign included the school having to maintain its educational provision throughout the course of the redevelopment and wanting to replace the most inadequate accommodation first.
